Israeli fighter jet shoots down flying object
Nuclear plant in Dimona, Israel
Ynetnews.com reports on Thursday that an Israeli F-16 fighter jet has shot down what seems to be an engine-powered balloon near the Dimona nuclear reactor in southern Israel. CNN and BBC News later reported on the story.
Israel’s Dimona reactor is understood to provide plutonium for the country’s nuclear weapons.
Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter said in 2008 that Israel has around 200 nuclear warheads, but the Israelis have never confirmed they have nuclear weapons.
A security official gave a statement on the incident:
It definitely flew over Dimona, although we are still trying to determine what that entailed and the military is now handling the matter.
They have not yet found the debris to determine what it was.
Some people will no doubt try to find a connection between this incident and Robert Hastings’s research on UFOs and nuclear missiles in the U.S.
This also reminds me of the famous (although unfortunately faked) video of UFOs flying close to a nuclear reactor somewhere in the U.S.
