9News reports of an unidentified object over Denver that on Monday nearly caused a mid-air collision with a corporate jet flying at about 2,500 meters (8,000 feet). The pilot contacted air traffic control in Denver to report the object that flew by the aircraft at close range. The pilot is heard saying:
A remote controlled aircraft, or what? Something just went by the other way … About 20 to 30 seconds ago. It was like a large remote-controlled aircraft.
Now, as you can see in the clip below, the expert brought in believes the object could be one of three things: 1) a drone, 2) a remote controlled aircraft, or 3) a large bird.
Questions:
- Is it common (or at all possible) for remote controlled aircraft to fly at 2,500 meters?
- A large bird? Really?
What are your thoughts on this one?
