Weird objects over Santa Monica, California

I usually refrain from posting overly shaky videos, but this one is pretty interesting. It was filmed in Santa Monica, California at around 5pm on December 1, 2010. What we’re seeing are two objects seemingly falling through the sky, leaving contrails behind them like ordinary space debris burning up in the atmosphere.
But then out of nowhere, the objects start changing directions, like they’re making turns. That kind of nullifies the space debris hypothesis. What are they then?

My first thought was that these were aircraft contrails, but the rapid change of course makes that unlikely. I’m wondering if this could show skydivers/parachutists with smoke canisters.
And indeed it is — Silver Surfer UFO identified as skydivers.
